Ciudad Antigua – The Forgotten City of Nicaragua

Ciudad AntiguaArguably founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, Ciudad Antigua could be one of the least known original spanish towns in Nicaragua and potentially Central America as well. Lost in the folds of time the predominantly agricultural and religious city lacks some of the expected amenities such as a movie theater, regular hotels, nightclubs, universities, or even classic restaurants; making it potentially a great place to disconnect from the trappings of the modern world. Historically the city has been witness to the attack of the english pirate Henry Morgan in 1654, Edward Davis in 1685, and others, making it a historical place of interest that you should not miss if you visit Nicaragua.
